Welcome to the James N. Thorp School website. Our school serves predominantly African-American and Hispanic children from the Southeast Side community of Chicago in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8.

 

James N. Thorp School is fully recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education. Our school consists of three smaller schools divided by grade levels: a Primary School (Pre-K-2), Intermediate school (3-5) and a Middle School (6-8).

 

Thorp’s success is due to the outstanding commitment from parents, school personnel, students, Local School Council and community members. We follow our motto “A Community of Learner.”
